How the order ran.
A sustainability-led lifestyle retailer with stores across the Nordics and Benelux commissioned an apron for their recycled-materials range. The brief was as much about provenance as product: the apron had to be GRS-certified end to end, undyed to avoid dye-stage impact, and entirely free of plastic in both the product and its packaging.
We built the apron on a 280 GSM GRS-certified recycled cotton in its natural greige, leaving it undyed so the slubby recycled-fiber character showed honestly. Trims were chosen to match the claim — a GRS recycled woven label, a kraft hangtag, a paper band and tissue wrap, with no polybag anywhere in the pack-out.
The technical work here was documentation as much as construction. The retailer's buyers required a complete GRS chain-of-custody — transaction certificates linking the recycled fiber through spinning, weaving and assembly. We coordinated the paperwork across the supply chain so every batch shipped with a verifiable scope and transaction certificate, which the retailer used in their in-store and on-pack claims.
The 3,600 pcs shipped CIF Rotterdam in two size grades. The range hit a 91% sell-through by season end with full GRS chain-of-custody documented and zero plastic in product or packaging — a claim the retailer could defend under EU green-claims scrutiny. They have since added a matching recycled tote and reordered the apron for a second season.
