Cross-Back (No-Neck-Strain) Aprons
Yoke straps that cross the back — no neck pressure at long benches.
Cross-back (Japanese-style) aprons replace the over-the-head neck loop with two straps that cross the back and button at the waist, spreading the load across the shoulders. The go-to cut for baristas, makers and chefs who wear an apron eight-plus hours a day.

How we make this style.
We build cross-back aprons in waxed canvas, raw denim, duck canvas and washed linen. Straps are cut wide, bar-tacked at four anchor points and finished with either a button-and-loop or a sliding buckle for size adjustment. The crossback geometry is graded across XS–3XL so the straps sit correctly on different frames — not just scaled up from one pattern.
What's included, what can be customized.

Cross-back aprons — common questions.
Why choose a cross-back apron over a neck-loop apron?
The crossback straps spread the apron's weight across both shoulders instead of loading the neck, which is why baristas, makers and chefs who wear an apron all day prefer it. It also slips on without disturbing freshly-styled hair.
Is it the same as a Japanese-style apron?
Yes — 'Japanese-style apron' and 'cross-back apron' describe the same crossed-strap silhouette. We produce both the pinafore (dress-like) and the workwear bib versions of it.
Can you grade the straps for different body sizes?
Yes. We re-position the strap anchors per size across XS–3XL rather than just scaling one pattern, so the cross point sits correctly on each frame.
